The Ohio Arts Council is a government funded organization that provides working artists, teaching opportunities in schools across Ohio. As the grantee muralist, I was placed at William Rainey Harper Elementary in Brooklyn, Ohio , which is part of The Cleveland Metropolitan School District. WRH is an International Baccalaureate school which focuses on the whole child’s learning experience, along side worldly educational experience. Part of the school’s program divides scholars into four house teams: Sazi, Awari, Reveur, and Valor. Each house team has its own attributes, color, mascot and values to abide by. My first task was to transform the school’s Cafe, adding house team pride throughout. The second, was to create a mural in the Arena that has the school’s mascot, a black panther, being the main focus. Lastly, I was tasked to create learning experiences for the school’s scholars. I created various whole class murals, allowing the children to express themselves artistically and freely, creating a lasting memory for years to come.

These are the various student projects from the Pre-K, Kindergarten, First and Second Grade, and The Special Needs Class.
